What is an AI agent for a small company?

Is an AI agent the same as an AI chatbot?
A chatbot answers questions in a chat window. An agent can also take actions, such as booking into your calendar, sending a follow-up text or updating a contact, across calls, texts, chat and social messages. It is not a chatbot you prompt from scratch every time.
Will an AI agent replace my staff?
